First part of $540m Abu Dhabi waterfront project revealed
Developer Imkan unveils first mixed-use project in its Makers District on Reem Island

Abu Dhabi-based real estate developer Imkan on Tuesday announced plans for the first mixed-use project in its $540 million 18-hectare waterfront Makers District on Reem Island.

Pixel’s seven towers, incorporating residential apartments, co-working office space, F&B and retail, will form a key part of a new neighbourhood and a unique urban living destination being built in the UAE capital.

With a built-up area of approximately 83,000 sq m, Pixel will offer 480 residential units within 7 mixed-use residential towers that frame a pedestrianised plaza, home to over 3,500 sq m of F&B, retail and offices, as well as a signature water feature.

Lootah Real Estate Development has broken ground on its upcoming residential project The Gardens in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai.

Set for delivery in the third quarter of 2019, the project will feature two residential buildings comprising a total of 217 units ranging from studios to one bedroom and loft apartments.

The Gardens buildings, which will also feature swimming pools, gymnasiums with steam room and sauna and covered parking spaces, will have a built-up area of 244,000 sq ft.

A new $218m waterfront project in Jeddah spanning 700,000 sq/m has opened to the public, according to local media.

The new 4.2 km development in Saudi Arabia’s commercial hub adds new park areas, a 650 metre walkway as well as three new beaches in the area, Saudi Gazette reported.

The new public area with 17 plazas, sculptures, fountains, a water park and 8,000 sq/m of children’s play area was inaugurated in the western Red Sea port city by Emir of the Mecca region Prince Khaled Al Faisal.

Expo 2020 Dubai has awarded a significant contract for the iconic Al Wasl Plaza building, which will form the centrepiece of the 4.38-square kilometre site.

Abu Dhabi-based Cimolai Rimond Middle East General Contracting LLC will provide steelwork for the intricate domed trellis of Al Wasl Plaza.

The UAE-Italian joint venture will provide the trellis structure for the 67.5-metre tall, 130-metre wide dome.

The value of annual land sales in Dubai has risen by AED30 billion ($8.17 billion) over the last five years, with Business Bay identified as a key area for further growth, according to new research.

fäm Properties, one of the emirate’s biggest real estate brokerages, said land sales for this year so far has reached AED68 billion compared to AED38 billion for the whole of 2012.

Divers Marine Contracting has started construction of a United Arab Emirates naval base in a semi-autonomous region of northern Somalia.

The closely held Sharjah-based engineering group began work on the project after being awarded the $90 million contract in April, Managing Director Abdulla Darwish said in an interview in Dubai.

The facility, being built near the regional port of Berbera, is expected to be completed by June, he said.

Berbera is located on the Gulf of Aden, 260 kilometers (162 miles) south of Yemen, where UAE troops in a Saudi Arabia-led coalition are battling Houthi rebels.

UAE-based Azizi Developments has started construction of its AED25 billion ($6.8 billion) Azizi Victoria mega project in the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City – District Seven in Dubai.

Spread over a construction area of 33 million square feet, Azizi Victoria comprises 105 mid and high-rise residential buildings of 30,000 units of studio, one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments, a retail district and two hotels.

The buildings will be mixed-use constructions of housing apartments, retail establishments, restaurants and hotels, the developer said in a statement.
