Bahrain hires consultants for new exhibition and conference centre

Bahrain has appointed consultants to work on plans for a new exhibition and conference centre in Sakhir, close to the Formula 1 race track.

Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, who attended the signing of the deal to hire Tilke, said the project is key to attract and develop the international exhibitions industry in the kingdom.

The centre will be built on a plot of about 308 thousand square metres next to the Bahrain International Circuit. It will include 10 exhibition halls with a total area of 95,000 sq m and will also feature..

Dubai plans new sewer system for next 50 years

Dubai Municipality has begun exploratory work for a major new sewage treatment system as part of its infrastructure drive to accommodate continued population growth.

The Dubai Strategic Sewer Tunnel Project, for which Dubai Municipality has engaged Parsons Overseas Limited as engineering consultant, will involve construction of more than 70km of tunnels supported by approximately 140km of link sewers and key pumping stations.

It will serve the city for at least the next 50 years, a statement said.

When completed in 2022, the project will eliminate over 100 pump stations around the city that currently transfer sewage to treatment plants in Al Warsan and Jebel Ali, it added.

Arabtec unit wins $268m contract for Downtown Dubai project
Target Engineering Construction Co is hired for phase 2 of Emaar's Forte development

Arabtec Holding on Tuesday announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Target Engineering Construction Company, has been awarded a AED950 million ($258.6 million) contract.

The work will cover phase 2 of Forte, a residential development in Downtown Dubai by Emaar Properties, the contractor said in a statement.

The contract scope includes the construction of the podium and twin towers of 67 and 46 floors, which is in addition to phase 1, that was previously awarded to Target for the construction of five basements for the two residential towers.

The duration of phase 1 and 2 will be 40 months, the company said.
